Spoilers: Through all of s4 to "The End of Time" part 2.

V/N: I've always felt that losing Donna in the way that he did, not only that he had been forced to take away her memories of him but that she could never be in his life again after that, was the thing that finally broke him. I heard this song the other day and it seemed to fit that theory so well to me. If he could just have taken his broken pieces back to Donna, she would've made him whole again.
