*squishes LJ*
Just a quick update while I have a few minutes left to be online! I've been trying to keep my LVI stuff going in the bits of borrowed online time since my computer was virused out of its poor li'l mind the other day but tonight I wanted to spend some time here at LJ 'cause I've missssssssssed yooooooooooo all so much! *clings* ♥! I'll do my best to catch up on your recent events just ASAP! *squishes you all*
I was able to print my previous chapters of "Balancing Act" out as well as the 3,000+ words of the final chapter (despite the fact my computer was about to go into a brain-dead coma at the time; oh, he has so much heart! He tried so hard to keep going for me! *assigns waaay too much personality to inanimate objects, yes, it's true!* ;) ).
I'm seriously debating whether or not to break this chapter into two. I know that it's not exactly form to add another chapter when I've said it would be 6 chapters from the start, though. :S But I'm really very tempted to break it anyway. Here's my thinking: (list time, yay! ;) )
1. The first part is basically done. If it becomes the new Chapter 6, then I can get it posted fairly soon.
2. The second part isn't done. It's a LOT more cumbersome to write by pencil and paper when you'respoiled used to writing in Word. ;) If I wait until the whole thing is done, I have no earthly idea when that's going to be, especially if I can't get my computer (with Word) back up and running in the next few days.
3. MS Works tries real hard to be Word but... it's not Word. o_O ;)
4. I want my computer back, darn it!
5. Just filling space with this one 'cause it looks better as a Top 5 list. ;)
So here's the part where I'm accepting opinions 'cause I'd love to hear what y'all think! ;)
[Poll #1279533]
And because it's not ALL about the fanfic here at Casa de Aislynn's LJ, ;) here's a completely random poll that everybody can play along with! ;)
[Poll #1279534]
Welp, that's all for now. I have no pics on this computer so I can't even end with a picspam (though, you know, if you feel like lobbing a quick comment picspam my way just out of the kindness of your heart, I'd be much obliged... ;) ). Hope you're all doing well! I've missed hearing from you all liek woah! *clings* I'll be back as soon as I possibly can! *big hugs!* ♥!
PS - Quick question about monitors... This is a widescreen monitor and it makes everything look short and squatty (like the icons all look like rectangles, not squares, for example). Is there any way to fix that? 'Cause it's extremely annoying! O_O ;) I figure it's probably something with the resolution but if I make the resolution "bigger" then it's like the image is zoomed in on and you have to scroll from side to side to read things. :S (It's rather like the "face smooshed up against the window" effect that you get in vidding if you crop in too close to your subject. o_O ;) ) Anyway, might not be anything that can be done for it, I just thought I'd ask! I wish you could somehow get it to put widescreen bars down the sides and stop stretching the square picture to fill a frame it doesn't fit! :S Thanks! ♥!

I'm sorry about your computer. I offer lots of hugs and hearts and love!!!

Yep, you're totally right, it is in the monitor properties! ;) I went in and played around with it but so far unfortunately the "stretchy" version is the most viewable for some reason. :S Ah well! ;) Thanks! *gratefully accepts hugs, hearts and love!* ♥♥♥!!!

Also, all you should have to do is go to desktop properties and change the resolution. It depends on what ratio the monitor is but I think 1200whateverx768(?) is the right one? I still have a 4:3 so mine's still 1024x768 because MY computer is made of super fail lol

Ummmm, at least one more time? ;) *apparently can't teach an old viddergirl new tricks, sad to say* ;)
I've dinked around with the resolution but the one that makes the pic non-stretchy (technical term... ;) ) makes everything VERY SMALL. O_O If this was my monitor then I'd try to just get used to the much smaller everythings but since I'm just shoving my way in (and trying not to make myself too much at home, lol ;) ), then I had to put it back to the stretchy but larger everythings version. ;)
Thanks bunches for your advice, hon! *squishes you* I may one day have something for you to beta again but at the speed I'm presently going, it makes my previous slowness look supersonic! *hits self in head* When you have to waste hours trying to paste your old computer back together, that just leaves you no time to do anything else! :( At least I should still be able to send you a Word doc; once I enter everything I printed out into MS Works and finish off the ch, it gives you the option to save as a Word doc, so I'm hoping it'll be something you can open! *fingers crossed*
Aw, I don't think your computer is made of super fail, lol! ;) However, anymore, I certainly feel like I am myself. (Get your supa!fail!Aislynn action figure exclusively here at Ais' LJ for a limited time only! ;) )
*smishy-smishes* ♥!

Anyway, I didn't even know WP could open Word docs! I should've asked you what format worked best for you way back when! *is bad and does not get a cookie* :( ;)
Welp, Works can do .rtf and wordpad so hopefully one of those will work for you and you can send it back to me the same! ;) Not that there's going to be some big rush on this, sorry to say. I'm making zero headway right now. :S I'm just totally off my game! *looks emo* It's all that dealing with my broken computer along with some RL stuff: I'm just stressed to the max and that always shuts my muses down. :S
*needs a vacation from her life* ;) Anyway, thanks again, hon! *squishes* ♥!

Thanks so much for answering! I'm going to just have to see which way the muses want to go (Rusty and Jessica Rabbit are feeling rather upset because they don't have their usual computer stuff and lets not even talk about poor Veronica, stuck over here with no Vegas! *gasp* O_O ;) ). *big hugs!* ♥!

My favorite Other is still Ethan. Followed by Richard and Juliet.
And also I want you to make me a Goren/Eames (L&O: Criminal Intent, if you didn't know) video. You know, when you have time. =-p Next decade or something, k? ILU.

Man, I really am wondering now when I can ever get back to vidding! I'm just really discouraged from all this trouble I've had the past month trying to keep my computer going and now it's finally keeled over and I don't know when or how I'll ever get it fixed... *looks majorly emo*
I'd say I looked majorly Elmo but I don't even have a picture of Elmo to put up. *is emo over Elmo* ;) Okay, I think this means it's getting late and it's really time to go, lol! ;)
I totally agree with you on favorite Others, btw! Team Ethan, FTW! ;)
And since I'm apparently answering your post in reverse order *eyeroll* I've been doing the pencil and paper thing myself! Always used to be how I wrote, even after I had a computer. I always did my first drafts by hand, then entered them into Word for editing, but now I guess I'm just completely spoiled to how much faster it is to type than write: I can hurry the words out before I have a chance to get blocked by all my doubts and indecisions, lol! ;) Ah well, I can just get over that, huh? ;) It's totally silly for my muses to be putting their feet down (well, more like a foot from Jessica Rabbit and a paw from Rusty ;) ) over not having a computer to type the first draft on! ;)
*squishy hugs!* ♥!

Anyway, I'm hoping to eventually get my own computer back one day then I can try to get myself on track again! *big, big hugs!* ♥!

Oh, yeah! I was reading a post that you wrote over on amberfocus's journal about how you got intimidated from all the other writers, and I wanted to come over and encourage you to not feel intimidated by them. I've told a few others (don't remember if one of them was you ever) that I consider myself to be a very snobby fanfic reader (no offense to those people I don't read), and you got me hooked on your pic spams, so when you started writing Balancing Act, I read it, not realizing what it was, and even though I usually hate 10/Donna pairings, I love yours, so you shouldn't be afraid to write just because you don't think it'll be as good as the other girls' because everything you write is awesome. *takes deap breath after crazy run-on sentences*
Sorry to hear you're having so many computer problems. Do you know how you're getting all these viruses?
About the screen resolution: Does the "stretchy" setting stretch the websites and things you go to, or just your icons? If it's stretching everything, and it's bothering you (like when you're reading fanfic or something), you could always switch the resolution to the one that makes everything tiny, then when you open your browser, go up to the view menu and (depending on the browser you use) click on "Make Text Bigger" or "Text Size", and it should make everything proportional. You'll have to do it every time you open the browser, but if it's the stretchiness that's bugging you, that should be at least a little help to you.

Do you know how you're getting all these viruses?
It started when I was re-directed to a "poisoned page" from what my research can tell: it was a page with a ton of ads and apparently when one of them loaded into a temporary file, it loaded the virus with it (I didn't click on anything or actively download anything). It struck my Windows Security Center and my Norton anti-virus first thing, turning off my automatic updates (permanently, they won't come back on) and whatever they did to Norton caused it to shut-down. :S My Zone Alarm firewall kept the beasties from getting Internet access back out while I took advantage of the free upgrade to Norton 2009 they'd been offering me.
Well, little did I know that Norton 09 and Zone Alarm are completely incompatible. :S It froze my computer completely and I had to uninstall Zone Alarm through Safe Mode. So in the middle of this virus firestorm, I had periods of time with NO firewall, which let the virus go out and load more viruses and malware onto me. >:[
So now I have to change anti-virus or firewall because I can't have them both on the same computer anymore on top of trying to clear up all the viruses and bots as well as the damage they managed to do. :( I've been researching anti-virus programs and firewalls, trying to find ones that sound as "strong" as either Norton or ZA but so far I haven't been totally convinced by anything out there. :S The combo of Norton and ZA has kept me 100% protected before this incident for the past 4 years, which is a pretty good track record to try and beat, lol!
Geez, come for the comment and stay for my life story, huh? O_O ;) Sorry about rambling on like that!
Ooo, that's a great idea to switch the resolution to one of the "smaller" settings then just make the text bigger! I'm going to definitely try that! Right now since I'm not doing graphics or vidding, I guess having things stretchy and out of proportion is just an inconvenience but if I'm trying to do some sort of visual thing, then I want to really see what I'm doing and not have it all out of whack! O_O ;)
By the way, I hope you don't mind that I went ahead and friended you back? ;)
Anyway, thanks so much again for taking the time to comment about my writing and all of that! Very, very much appreciated! ♥!

I absolutely do not mind that you friended me back. Yay friends!
